Leesha Mony, a Seattle-based writer, and Somatic Psychotherapist, delves into themes encompassing motherhood, maternal mental health, the quest for belonging, and collective healing. She holds the belief that giving voice to our experiences through creative expression and storytelling profoundly leads us to feel less alone and more connected to one another and to the deeper parts of ourselves. Leesha is a birth storytelling guide and has a myriad of different offerings, including 1:1 support, group facilitation, and embodied writing workshops.

Kind Words

“Birth and the Pen was such a sacred space so tenderly held by Leesha that helped me care for myself in this transition into matrescence. I felt Leesha’s care and intentionally every step of the way. Being witnessed in my birth and postpartum story in the community of mothers that was cultivated, and meeting the memories that my body held onto even when I had to push ahead immediately following a traumatic birth brought me hope and healing. I’m so grateful for my experience in Birth and the Pen and would highly recommend it to all mothers.”

- Kim

“Birth and The Pen has been a catalyst for my healing journey and helping me connect with my Story-Telling ancestry. I’ve loved every moment of it. Forever grateful.”

- Yvonne

“There are many ways to get to the core of the very essence of your true self. To feel, sense, see and almost touch it. Leesha’s workshop is one of them. And a very good one at that!
Better, it’s a workshop that surprisingly awoke in me long lost hidden treasures. They were here all along for sure. But now, I am aware of them. I saw them right down on the very paper I was writing on.”

- Hajar

"The way in which Leesha holds space is truly magical! I got to be part of her "The birth of the mother" workshop, where we used embodied writing as a way to be fully present with what arises when connecting with your birth story. Her prompts allowed me to tend to parts of my birth story that seemed to be hidden deep inside me, and the sharing in community made me realize that these kinds of gatherings where women sit in communion with one another are crucial for personal and collective healing."
